Profile Investment Analyst/Associate - CSCF

The Capricorn Sustainable Chemistry Fund is looking to expand its investment team with a highly motivated Investment Analyst/Associate. You will help to build a successful portfolio of start-ups and scale-ups recognized for their cutting-edge technology and leadership in the field of food & agriculture, health & nutrition, chemicals & materials. You will be responsible to analyse technologies, markets and business models of those companies that seek early stage or growth equity for commercial breakthrough, sales line expansion and/or product diversification. You will work with the Investment Managers on the due diligence and follow-up of the various investment cases. You will have the opportunity to help structure investment terms, observe the progress of portfolio companies, and support Investment Managers in their role as Board Members of these companies. On a case-by-case basis, you will work with the Investment Manager to organize key events in the investment cycle such as capital increases, debt issues, corporate development, strategic collaborations, M&A and exits. In summary, your responsibilities include:

  • Deal sourcing, screening and due diligence: monitor the incoming deal flow, execute an initial screening, assessment and formulate a first investment recommendation. Analyse sectors and markets, position new opportunities and perform a competitive analysis. Judge technology merits and its implication on future businesses. Perform financial analysis, forecast and valuation.
  • Management support: final investment recommendation, portfolio administration, communication and board support. Maintain and improve databases. Assist in follow-on capital increases.

About you

You are ambitious and driven by value creation for diverse set of industries/products. You are interested in the world of start-ups and scale-ups. You combine a technological and business background, by either experience or education. Preferably, you carry a chemistry, chemical engineering, bioengineering, agronomy or related degree and have experience in the business aspect of these disciplines. Basic financial knowledge and valuation skills are necessary. You are fluent in English; Dutch and French working proficiency is a plus, but not a requirement. You like to work in teams, are open minded and communicative. You have a minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience.
